Top IAS officers transferred in reshuffle in Gujarat

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has transferred top 10 IAS officers In the first round of bureaucratic reshuffle on Friday.

Among those transferred include Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Home, Industries and Mines, Environment and Forest and Finance.

ACS Home P.K. Taneja has been shifted to Industries and Mines where he will oversee the preparations for forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Investment summit scheduled in January 2017.

Arvind Agarwal has been shifted from Industries and Mines to Environment and Forest as ACS, while M.S. Dagur has been made ACS Home after being shifted from Environment and Forest department.

All three top officials, Mr. Agarwal, Mr. Taneja and Mr. Dagur belong to the 1984-batch IAS officers of the Gujarat cadre.

A 1985-batch IAS officer Anil Mukim has been shifted from Health and Family Welfare to Finance as ACS and he will continue to hold additional charge of General Administration and Personnel as ACS.

Mukesh Puri, Principal Secretary Water Supply has been made Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary, Department of Ports in the new administration. Significantly, Mr. Puri, a 1988-batch IAS officer, will also hold additional charge of Principal Secretary Water Supply.

L. Chuango, Principal Secretary Labour and Employment, has been shifted to Education swapping incumbent Rajiv Gupta to Labour and Employment department.

“CM wants to stress on efficiency and transparency in the administration. A few more changes at senior level in the administration are in the offing,” a top official from the CMO told The Hindu .

After Independence Day celebrations and two-day brief monsoon session of the Assembly, the government is likely to reshuffle police officials and also district-level Collectors and DDOs in a bid to gear up the administration for the Assembly polls scheduled to be held in December next year.
