Unseasonal rains following heavy gales left a trail of destruction in Jagtial revenue division on Monday.

Reports reaching the district headquarters indicated that mango crop, which was ready for harvesting was badly damaged in the heavy rainfall. Ryots were left shocked when the turmeric crop dried in open area in several villages was left in a pool of water.

Maize and paddy fields saw the standing crops flattened and left submerged in rain water. Fate of chilli crop was no different.

The sudden downpour in Jagtial, Korutla, Metpally, Kathalapur, Raikal, Sarangapura, Ibrahimpatnam, Medipalli and other mandals in the region recorded 10 mm to 20 mm rainfall. In Adilabad, untimely rains hit coal mining in the SCCL mines in Khairiguda and Dorli.
