TS govt. waives farm loan up to Rs. 1 lakh

The government of Telangana on Tuesday announced waiver of about Rs. 18,000 crore farm loans as part of fulfilling the pre-poll promise of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS).

Crop loan, gold loan taken for agricultural needs and agricultural term loans up to Rs. 1 lakh per farmer would be written off as part of the waiver scheme. Chief Public Relations Officers to Chief Minister V. Jwala Narasimha Rao said in an official press release that orders were issued by the government to the effect, following Monday’s Cabinet decision to implement the loan waiver scheme.

In all, 39,07,409 farmers who had availed of institutional credit for their agricultural needs are likely to get benefited from the government decision.

Increment

Meanwhile, another official press release stated that orders were also issued releasing one special increment each to the government employees of Telangana as sop on the formation of Telangana State. The increment would be paid with the August month salary for the rest of the service to the employees.

The special increment would also be given to the employees working in government degree colleges, polytechnic colleges and to the employees of universities recognised by University Grants Commission and All India Council for Technical Education.
