Tension prevailed in Gudurupadu village in Khammam rural mandal on Friday, a day after a clash between CPI sympathisers and TRS supporters claimed the life of a villager.
However, the situation remained under control as prohibitory orders were enforced.
It may be noted that a clash between two “rival groups” during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations in the village left TRS supporter Satti Sangaiah, 60, dead and eight others injured on Thursday.
The funeral of Sangaiah was held amid tight security in the village on Friday morning. A large contingent of police force was deployed in the politically sensitive village to prevent untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, the Khammam rural police have registered cases against 30 villagers in connection with Thursday’s clash.
