Eminent doctor and president of the Association of Breast Surgeons of India P. Raghuram adopted Ibrahimpur village in Siddipet mandal of Medak district. He visited the village along with Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Monday and interacted with the villagers.

Dr. Raghuram pledged his assistance in building a dining room and a library/study room with Internet facilities in the village school in addition to building a modern crematorium. “Currently, the students have their lunch in the open compound of the school and are finding it extremely difficult, particularly during summer. Also, as many students are appearing for entrance exams and going for higher studies, a good library with Internet facilities will be provided. Now, the villagers have to travel to Siddipet, which is 20 km away, for cremating the dead . Hence, a modern crematorium that will benefit Ibrahimpur and the surrounding villages will be set up. Besides, a health centre manned by an auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) that will provide basic healthcare in the village, and regular camps to detect cancer are being planned simultaneously,” said Dr. Raghuram, adding that it would also generate employment for the skilled villagers.

Dr. Raghuram’s parents, Dr. Chalapati Rao, Dr. Ushalakshmi and his wife Dr. Vaijayanthi would also be part of the adoption activity.
