Seven persons were killed in a ghastly road accident when two SUVs collided near Kommireddipally village in Addakal police station limits of Mahabubnagar District on Tuesday morning.
According to Addakal police, the accident occurred when a Tavera vehicle bound for Nanded in Maharashtra lost balance and hit the road divider and rammed into an Innova going in the opposite direction on NH-44.
Six persons travelling in the Tavera (MH 26 V 4866) died on the spot while another passenger of the Innova too died instantaneously. The victims from Maharashtra were returning to their native place after a pilgrimage to Tirupati.
The six Maharashtra victims aged between 30 and 40 years were identified as Balraj Jadhav, Raju, Shankar, Muthali Venkat Rao, Sunil Karnekar, and Balaji Pothedhar. All of them belong to Naigaon in Nanded District.
Police said that the Innova (KL 07 BX 4257) was going to Kerala. It was tragic death for Sindhu (38) wife of Faizal, who is the owner cum driver of the vehicle, while proceeding to Kerala. Due to the impact of the Tavera crashing into the SUV, death was instantaneous for her. Faizal and his son Asheem sustained bleeding injuries.
The two vehicles were badly damaged in the mishap. Kothakota Inspector D. Kishan and Addakal SI M. Venkateshwarlu rushed to the spot and removed the bodies from the badly mangled ill-fated vehicles and sent them for post-mortem to District Headquarters Hospital at Mahabubnagar.
A case has been registered.
