Four persons, including a four-month-old infant died and 10 others sustained bleeding injuries when two RTC buses collided head on near Chowderpally village in Mahabubnagar District on Tuesday.
Reports reaching here said that a speeding RTC bus from Karnataka rammed into another Hyderabad-bound bus leading to the accident. Four persons sitting behind the driver’s seat died as the side portion of the bus got ripped apart, due to the impact of the collision.
Police had a tough time extricating the bodies from the bus. The injured were rushed to Mahabubnagar district headquarters hospital for treatment. Condition of two of the injured is said to be critical. The identity of the victims including a woman and an infant is yet to be known.
Bodies were shifted to headquarters hospital for post-mortem. Mahabubnagar police registered a case against the driver of the Karnataka bus.
Meanwhile, Telangana Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy expressed shock at the ghastly accident. He directed the TSRTC Mahabubnagar Regional Manager to ensure that best medical treatment was provided to the injured passengers. He said that the Government would help the injured.
