Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State president Chukka Ramulu has alleged that the Government has been neglecting working class and those in the power getting benefited.
A rally was held in the district headquarters on Tuesday from the old bus stand as part of State wide bandh observed by the CITU against the alleged anti-labour policies being followed by the Government.
“The workers were demanding nothing but payment of minimum wages. While the Government of Kerala brought Minimum Wages Act under which ₹600 per day is being paid to workers why the same could not be implemented here?” asked Mr. Ramulu while addressing a meeting by workers from different sections. “Minimum wages are right of the workers and its not a favour being extended by the Government,” he said. Several industries are not implementing issuing of appointment letters, PF, ESI or holidays. When salaries are increased for Chief Minister, Ministers and employees why not for workers? What is preventing the Government to take a decision in favour of labour? Why the Government has been tilting towards industrialists and managements?” asked the CITU leader alleging that many industries were not allowing even establishment of unions leave alone the rights of workers.
Mr. Ramulu said that time had lapsed for implementation of many GOs but no effort was made by the Government to replace them. CITU leaders B. Mallesh, G Sailu, B. Yadava Reddy and others participated in the programme.
