Talking about plans to address the drinking water shortage during the onset of summer, district Collector P. Satyanarayana Reddy said that they received Rs. 5.18 crore under CRF (Central Relief Fund) and Rs. 16 crore under non-CRF grant to deal with the drinking water crisis.
Addressing the Zilla Parisad general body meeting here on Friday, the Collector said that they prepared village-wise plan to deal with the issue considering last year’s problems.
Mr. Reddy said that they would supply water through tankers to villages without bore-wells. The Collector said that they hired bore-wells of farmers to supply water on a regular basis.
“Many water sources have dried up in the district due to depletion of groundwater table, he said. A huge number of water tubs were set up to provide water to cattle.”
TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy asked the government to provide 150 work days under the NREGS in all mandals to stop migration of people.
Zilla Parisad chairman Balu Nayak presided over the meeting.
TRS whip Gongidi Sunitha, Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukendar Reddy, MLAs, MLCs, officials, ZPTCs and MPPs attended the meeting.
