Rescue operations are underway to retrieve three-year-old Rakesh who fell into a borewell at here in Pulkal mandal early on Saturday.

The boy was identified as Rakesh who was playing in the field. It was stated that the borewell was dug in the morning.

Police, revenue officials and medical teams have reached the site of the freshly dug borewell which had not been sealed.

Oxygen is being pumped into the borewell through a cylinder.

Three JCBs and two earth movers were being used to dig a parallel hole to rescue the boy.

Furious about slow progress, the relatives entered into argument with the authorities.

It took longer time as boulders came out while digging.

“Rakesh and his brother Baleash are playing near the bore well and Rakesh fell in. Balesh tried to pull him by with his legs. By the time we reached there he was visible but could not be pulled out,” said Mogulamma, Rakesh’s distraught mother .

The land around the bore well is being dug to reach the boy, he added.Medak Revenue Divisional Officer M. Nagesh and Jogipet Circle Inspector Nagaiah are supervising the operation. Searchlights have been set up to ensure that the operations continue after dark. Neither Collector D. Ronald Rose nor Joint Collector P. Venkatarami Reddy, nor Superintendent of police B.
