The Officers’ Colony, Saidabad was not covered under the Swachh Hyderabad programme. The storm water drainage passing through our colony is connected to Saroonagar lake, but apartments upstream have illegal connections to the sewerage lines to this drainage. Due to excessive accumulation of silt, there is always a foul smell in the area. I urge the authorities to address the problem immediately.

Give traffic holidays to complete works
The government should consider giving scheduled traffic holidays on different routes before opening of schools, in order to plan and execute Swachh Hyderabad programmes. On selected routes, it should think of completely prohibiting vehicular movement for a few days to complete the programmes.

Power cut causing inconvenience
The power utilities are resorting to whimsical power cuts sometime extending for up to three hours at a stretch. When asked the area Assistant Engineer, he told that due to disruptions in receiving power from the main grid, they are unable to supply power continuously to all the households in their jurisdiction.
