‘No guarantee bringing specific docs will result in issuance of visa’

My husband and I, along with our two-year-old daughter, had applied for B2 visa on March 8,and in the interview my husband forgot to mention that he applied for an H1 visa in 2006. I am guessing that’s the reason why for we were denied visa under Section 214b. We applied again on April 18and were rejected again for the same reason. The officer asked my husband if does he owns a house, but he said that we live with our in-laws. My husband’s brother is a U.S. citizen and we also had I 134 forms but he didn’t check a single document. I would like to know if we can apply again in three months. What should we do to make our case strong?

All non-immigrant visa applications are given every possible consideration consistent with U.S. immigration law. However, there is never a guarantee that any applicant will have his/her visa application approved.

Individuals whose non-immigrant visa applications were refused under Section 214 (b) are eligible to reapply, but we do not recommend that applicants reapply unless they are able to present significant new evidence that addresses the previous grounds for refusal.

I am a student pursuing law in India. I wish to travel to the U.S. on vacation to meet my cousin who is currently working there. All my expenses will be taken care of by him. Also, since I am still a student, all my education documents pertaining to past education are in my college’s custody. I, however, will be able to produce a bona fide from the college mentioning the same. I want to know if that will be sufficient? Could you also guide me as to what additional documents I should have with me while filling DS160 and while attending the interview?

You may choose to bring in documents that support your application to your visa interview. Please keep in mind that the officer may not review your documents and that there is no guarantee that bringing in specific documents will result in the issuance of a visa.

I am working as consultant paediatrician in Ministry of Health, Oman, for the last 22 years. My daughter has got admission in the University of Knoxville Tennessee for a full time MBA for Fall 2016. We are waiting for I-20 from the university. My daughter has a valid Oman resident card till 2018, and she is currently staying in India while working in BOSCH in Bengaluru. Can she apply for a student visa in the U.S. Embassy in Muscat as she has valid resident visa of Oman valid till April 2018?

You may apply for visa at any of our embassies or consulates worldwide. The requirements for each visa class are the same throughout all of our posts. However, your daughter will not be able to apply for an F-1 student visa at any embassy or consulate until she receives her I-20 form.
