Three Ministers in the State Cabinet, Tummala Nageswara Rao (Roads and Buildings), A. Indrakaran Reddy (Housing and Endowment) and Jogu Ramanna (Backward Classes Welfare and Forest) on Tuesday assured the agitating workers of the Sirpur Paper Mills (SPM) at Kagaznagar town that the State government would take all steps to restore production in the factory.
They accused the management of the SPM of ignoring invitations for holding talks, which was the main reason for delay in the factory resuming production of paper.
The Ministers and MLAs Koneru Konappa (Sirpur), Kova Laxmi (Asifabad), Durgam Chinnaiah (Bellampalli) and N. Diwakar Rao (Mancherial) interacted with the workers who are on a relay hunger strike demanding resumption of production since nearly 40 days.
Production was suspended in the SPM since last October as the management said it was running into losses and was unable to purchase raw material.
The Ministers were on a day’s visit to Sirpur Assembly constituency for inaugurating the railway over bridge near Kagaznagar railway stations and lay foundation stones for a few R&B roads and the high level bridge across the Tatichettu Orre stream near Tonkini. This is Mr. Nageswara Rao’s first visit to the district after assuming charge as R&B Minister.
The leaders also assured the workers that the school fee of their children pending since September last would be paid to respective schools so that the studies of the children were not disturbed.
Mr. Konappa was in touch with the school managements to work out the modalities of payment of the pending fee which amounts to Rs.70 lakh.
The R&B Minister said all the roads in Telangana would wear a new look within the next one year.
He said Adilabad was allocated as many as Rs.1,350 crore from a total budget of Rs.6,000 crore for laying R&B roads.
