Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak funds not being utilised: Harish Rao

Minister for Irrigation T. Harish Rao expressed displeasure over the under-utilisation of funds sanctioned for Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes. Of the total Rs.9 crore sanctioned for the programme, only Rs.3 crore was used so far, he said.

Addressing a gathering at the district headquarters on Tuesday, Mr. Harish Rao said a total of 588 applications were disposed of the 855 applications received so far, while stressing to focus on creating awareness of the schemes among Scheduled Tribes.

The Minister said all roads in the State would be developed in a phased manner, and funds were being released for this purpose.

Laying a foundation stone for the construction of roads worth Rs.12.07 crore earlier in the day, he said the government was committed to implementing its election promises without fail.

MLA Chinta Prabhakar, ZP chairperson A. Rajamani and others participated in the programme.
