HC questions BCCI on funds for IPL

March 16, 2017 12:34 am | Updated 12:36 am IST - Hyderabad

A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akther on Wednesday wanted to know how the BCCI could release appropriate funds so that, the HCA can conduct the forthcoming IPL matches without any problem. The Bench was hearing the arguments in a miscellaneous petition filed by BCCI requesting the court to appoint an administrator or an observer so that, the matches could go on without any problem.

A PIL was filed by Govind Reddy, advocate and a cricketer seeking a direction from the court to usher in transparency in the affairs of HCA and a full-fledged probe into the alleged financial irregularities in HCA. The Bench wondered how a formal Vice President was allowed to be a part of tender process and why an affidavit was not filed in the Supreme Court.
