Former Adilabad MP and Telangana TDP national polit bureau member, Ramesh Rathod, on Friday accused the State government of ignoring farmers’ problems. This has resulted in farmers suffering a great deal which is evident from continuing suicides.
Addressing party cadres during a dharna in front of the Collectorate here, the TTDP leader also accused the ruling TRS of forgetting its election promises. “Even after two months into kharif, farmers are still making rounds of banks for crop loans,” he pointed out.
TTDP Adilabad west district unit president Lolam Shamsunder demanded that the government immediately release the amount to farmers accruing on account of loan waiver scheme. He said that funds released so far had served no purpose as those were deducted as interest on previous loan.
The protesters demanded sanction of crop loans to eligible tenant farmers and land acquisition as per the LA Act of 2013. Among other demands were 12 per cent reservation to minorities and filling up of vacancies in hospitals, including RIMS, in Adilabad.
