A team of 16 students from NIT Warangal, led by Sangram Pradhan pursuing third year mechanical engineering, has secured all-India second rank in the pre-final round of the ‘Go-Kart Design Challenge-2017’ held by the Indian Society of New Era Engineers.

The pre-final round was held in Noida in August in which over 150 teams from premier technical institutions across India participated, showcasing their unique design and the technical aspects involved in it. Among these, Blitzkrieg Team Genesis from NIT Warangal secured the second place.

The team comprised undergraduate students from second and third years, who were guided by Karthik Balasubramanian, a faculty advisor and assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Warangal.

The students are currently designing and manufacturing their very own go-kart for the finals.

The project would go a long way in opening up new avenues for students by providing a broad platform and giving them unlimited possibilities in the world of design, manufacturing and its technical aspects that goes into making an automobile.

Making a business model based on their initial designs and prototypes and expanding them into a self-sustaining business would enable them to learn and develop on the very fundamentals of the industrial management. It also gives them a deeper insight into the real-life applications and problems that a student would face after applying everything that he/she has been taught in class.

Last year, ‘Team MechXhausters’ from NIT, Warangal, had secured an all India third rank in the same competition in the finals held in Coimbatore.

To keep the legacy alive, the team is determined to hit gold this time and has been working with vigour ever since.
