A large number of activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) and students from various educational institutions lay siege to the district collectorate seeking immediate release of fee reimbursement dues pending for a long time, here on Monday.

The students took out a protest rally from Ekasila Park to the Collectorate in Hanamkonda in support of the demand.

Addressing the gathering, SFI district secretary Ch Ravi Kumar said students who have completed their courses are unable to get their certificates as private institutions are demanding payment of dues. They are not in a position to seek admission for higher studies, he said.

Across the State, about Rs.2,500 crore dues are pending, while in Warangal Rs. 151 crore are yet to be released towards the previous year dues, he said.
