BJP wants PFI banned

March 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - Shivamogga:

Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar has urged the government to ban the Popular Front of India (PFI).

The PFI should be made directly responsible for the communal violence that erupted at Shivamogga on February 19 during a rally that was being taken out by it. In the wake of the incident, there was a strong demand from various sections of society to ban PFI. It was unfortunate that the State government had so far failed to take appropriate action in this regard, he said while addressing a press conference here on Saturday. The Bharatiya Janata Party would raise the issue of imposing ban on PFI during the forthcoming session of State Legislature. The government should order a thorough probe into the incident, he said.
