ACB nabs Mulugu forest range officer

Forest Range Officer R. Kondal Reddy was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel here on Monday evening when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 80,000.

According to ACB Inspector S.V. Raghavender Rao, Mr. Reddy, working in Mulugu forest range area, demanded eight per cent commission to clear the bills from one Surender Rao, who executes works on behalf of contractor, Venkateswar Reddy. The contractor was hired by the Forest Department to dig trenches around the reserve forest area.

The search at his office in Warangal Forest Complex and at his residences is as still on, the ACB officer said.

Karimnagar Special Correspondent writes: Junior accounts officer K. Ravi of Cooperative Electricity Supply Society (CESS) of Sircilla was caught red-handed by the ACB officials for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 16,000 from a contractor for doing official favour in his office in Sircilla textile town on Monday.

ACB DSP T. Sudarshan Goud said that the contractor, Yada Anjaiah, who collects the electricity bills of all the two lakh and odd consumers of the CESS, had been pleading for clearance of his bill worth Rs. 7 lakh for the collection of power bills of July and August months. The junior accounts officer demanded a bribe of Rs. 16,000 for online process of the bill.

Anjaiah approached the ACB, who trapped him red-handed and arrested him.
