KESLAPUR (ADILABAD DISTRICT): The Adivasis of Adilabad and neighbouring districts on Monday made a demand for implementation of Land Transfer Act, Regulation 1/70. They also appealed to the Government to give them rights on forest lands being tilled by them.
The demands came from representatives of all tribes at the annual tribal darbar at Nagoba jatara in Keslapur village in Indervelli mandal of Adilabad district.
The large number of tribals who attended the event had hoped for a favourable announcement in this regard, which did not happen.
Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna and Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy laid foundation stone for a new building for Nagoba temple. They listed out the development being ushered in the State through various welfare schemes.
KCR at next darbar
Mr Reddy assured the gathering that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao would attend next year’s darbar. Mr. Ramanna asked the tribal people to plant saplings which his department would provide.
Collector of Adilabad Buddha Prakash M. Jyothi, Kumram Bheem Asifabad Collector M. Champalal and Mancherial Collector R. V. Karnan, also in charge Project Officer of Utnoor ITDA, and assistant collector under training Anurag Jayanti, who oversaw organising of the jatara, also attended.
Mr. Karnan spoke in Gondi earning him applause from the tribal audience.
