Women relieved of gold chain

An unidentified person snatched a gold chain from K. Murugeswari (40), an Anganwadi organiser near Parthipapuram near Pudukkadai on Friday night.

The incident took place when Ms. Murugeswari was walking on the road to Munjirai BDO office. The bike-borne rider thrashed the woman before snatching the 9.5-sovereign chain from her. Pudukkadai police registered a case and are investigating.

In another incident, unidentified persons broke open the rear door of the house of R. Therasammal in Kalathivilai in Kanjiracode village under Marthandam police limits and snatched her 4.5 sovereign gold chain while she was fast asleep on Thursday night at her residence.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s son R. Ayyappan, Marthandam police have registered a case. Further investigations are on.
