Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss said that women were not ready to forgive the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam that ruined Tamil Nadu with the sale of liquor.
Campaigning for party candidates M. Chinnadurai, Lingaraj and Kumaragurupara Athithan for Thoothukudi, Srivaikuntam and Tiruchendur constituencies respectively, here on Tuesday evening, Dr. Ramadoss said that liquor was the root cause of crimes in society.
Only these two Dravidian parties promoted liquor sale, but now leaders of these parties were talking about total prohibition in the State. It was a shame that while education had become commercialised by private players, liquor shops were run by the government, he said.
Both these Dravidian parties were the embodiment of corruption and they ruined the lives of people through liquor. While DMK chief M. Karunanidhi had 28 various corruption charges against him, AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa was embroiled in 13 corruption charges, he said.
For 35 years, the PMK had been struggling to close Tasmac liquor shops permanently, but these Dravidian parties, which had ruled the State for 50 years, did not take any efforts top this effect. Further, he said that the country could witness progressive development only when there was no liquor and acts of corruption.
He appealed to the voters to treat his son and party’s Chief Ministerial candidate Anbumani like their son and vote for a ‘change and development’. Only change in politics could usher in development for he people. He asked the voters not to fall prey to bribe for votes. Referring to the parties’ poll manifestos, he said liquor would be abolished after the PMK was voted to power. The party government would also provide quality education and employment for a person in each family in the State.
