Jaya (40), wife of Subramanian, Keela Street, Karambavilai, Tiruchendur was allegedly murdered on Monday night.

Sources said P. Pandi (52), from the same locality, hacked her to death over a stolen chicken.

Jaya used to rear chickens in her backyard and she had suspected Pandi of stealing a fowl.

This had led to a quarrel between them and an irked Pandi in a drunken mood had hacked her to death. Based on a complaint lodged by Subramanian (48), husband of the deceased, Tiruchendur Temple police have filed a case under Section -302 of IPC.
