Voter Service Centres in the district have been geared up to provide compact identity cards to applicants.
For the convenience of voters, such centres have been established on the collectorate complex, the City Corporation office, and the taluk offices in Modakurichi Perundurai, Bhavani, Anthiyur, Sathy and Gobi. District Collector S. Prabakar inspected the process at the collectorate on Monday. Applicants seeking a copy of the voter ID card in compact form have to provide their ID number and contact number at the offices, along making a payment of Rs. 25. The applicants will be informed about the date of issue over phone.
As per the final list, there are 18,12,954 voters in eight Assembly segments in the district. They constitute 8,96,000 men, 9,16,782 women and 112 transgenders. As many as 49,478 new voters have been added to the list.
