Two minor girls, aged nine and five, were alleged to have been sexually assaulted in separate incidents here on Saturday. Both the incidents took place at Neruparichal.
Inspector R. Hema of All Woman Police Station (Tirupur North) told The Hindu that the nine-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her father. While the accused gave a slip to the police, the girl’s 26-year-old mother was arrested for not reporting the matter to the police.
“The matter came to the light after the head teacher of the school in which the girl studies, reported the issue to the Child Welfare Committee,” Ms. Hema said. In the other case, 37-year-old uncle was arrested for the sexual abuse of the five-year-old girl. He was a casual labourer.
