Two bird species normally not seen in Tiruvannamalai forests were sighted here recently.

Songster of South
“Shama, the best songster of South India lives in thick evergreen forests but they were not spotted till recently in Tiruvannamalai hill and forests. Sighting of the shama here means that quality of the forest has improved in Tiruvannamalai hill,” Mr.Arun told The Hindu .
He also said that he had spotted the ‘Indian Blue Robin’ near the Siva Temple in the forests surrounding Tiruvannamalai hills a couple of weeks ago.
“It is strange to spot the Indian Blue Robin here as it is usually found in the Western Ghats and Himalayas,” he added.
