Training held for campus ambassadors

To ensure error-free electoral roll, campus ambassadors from colleges, 38 computer operators involved in online modification of electoral rolls and e-centre operators were trained on the steps to be followed for online registration in the National Voters Service Portalwww.nvsp.in

The Election Commission of India has launched the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) from March 3 to 31 for linking Aadhaar data with electoral roll, improving the image quality of the electors, correction of errors in the roll.

Electors can present their Aadhaar number through sms, e-mail, mobile application and National Population Registry number through the portalwww.eci.gov.in. Also from the fourth week of March, booth-level officers will visit each household and provide applications for carrying out corrections. Form 7, 8 and 8A will be available at the office of municipalities, Revenue Divisional Officer and Tahsildar between 3pm and 5pm on Monday and Wednesday. Electors can also submit forms for corrections.

Special camps would also be held on April 12 and 26, May 10 and 24 for the convenience of the electors to make corrections in the electoral roll. Hence, Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy has asked the electors to cooperate in the exercise so as to ensure authenticated roll.

In Salem, Collector K. Maharabushanam has asked representatives of all political parties to cooperate so as to ensure error-free electoral roll.
