“Develop the urge to learn the who, when, what, why and how of everything you come across,” Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami told a gathering of students here on Monday during the launch of as many as 100 free coaching centres to help Class XII students of government and aided schools prepare for competitive exams.
The government has tied up with Speed Institute to provide the necessary training to students, he said, adding, “So far, 73,000 students have registered for coaching in the free training centres.”
The government is also planning to set up 312 more centres across the State soon. These centres would benefit both Tamil- and English-medium students.
The CM also distributed study material to students during the event.
Each candidate would receive 30 books covering all the subjects, and the training would comprise 30 sessions. “Our syllabus is as good as others across the country. The aim is to train students so that they don’t have to go to any other coaching centre,” Mr. Palaniswami told a gathering of teachers, students and parents.
Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam noted that the State government allocated a fourth of its budget to education. School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan said that the classes began on Monday itself. Classes were held simultaneously for schools in Gobichettipalayam, Edappadi and Bodi — the constituencies of the three leaders.
