BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy said there was no possibility of Karnataka government releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. He said sufficient quantum of water could be supplied to all the people and farmers through seawater desalination plants.

Talking to media persons at Thoothukudi airport on Sunday, he said the Cauvery water issue was being politicised and without wasting time, the State government should start building seawater desalination plants to manage water woes. A state-of-the-art technology was available in Israel and if the State government called for his assistance, he would ensure that the technology was adopted here within a few months, he said.

Referring to the 2G scam case verdict by a Delhi court, he said the CBI would appeal against the verdict in 10 days and was confident of getting the accused convicted. On the planned entry of film actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan into politics, he said Tamil Nadu had already been ruined by film personalities, and their entry would add to it.
