Shankar murder case: one more surrenders

One more person, Kalai Thamizhvanan (27), surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court at Nilakottai near here on Saturday in connection with the Udumalpet Shankar murder case.

Judicial Magistrate B. Risana Parveen remanded him in judicial custody for seven days and told the police to produce him before the court in Udumalpet. He was later lodged in the Madurai prison.

Police said CCTV footage showed him riding one of the bikes for the murder accused. The ninth accused in the case, he is the fourth to surrender before the courts in Dindigul and Theni districts so far.

First, Chinnasamy, Shankar’s father-in-law, surrendered before the Nilakottai court on March 14, and V. Prasanna (20) of Palani town, a commerce student from Udumalpet, surrendered before the same court on March 18. (The police was searching him as he was handing over the bike keys to the accused.) Shankar’s mother-in-law surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court in Theni on March 29.
