SC panel officials visit Pasumbalur

Officials from National Commission for Scheduled Caste visited Pasumbalur village near here on Wednesday where a group clash led to tension.

The Commission officials — P. Ramasamy, Assistant Director and Regional Head, Chennai, and S. Lister, Investigator, inspected the scene of crime where one of the huts of Kaliyan was set on fire.

The officials held talks with a few villagers including Kaliyan.

They inspected the site where a house was being constructed under the ‘Green House’ programme for Kaliyan at an estimate of about Rs. 2 lakh.

Earlier, the officials met Sonal Chandra, Superintendent of Police.
