Continuing its campaign to achieve 100 per cent turnout in the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Election Commission has come up with a music video, this time featuring actor-director-choreographer Prabhu Deva.
The gaana -style Ennathukku nottu, enakku oru doubtu (I do have a doubt, why do we need a (currency) note (to vote)) is sung by Deva and is penned by Yuga Barathi.
Ennathukku nottu enakku oru doubtu (I have a doubt, why do we need a note)/ kaasa neetti vottu kekkum aal aakku outtu (Defeat those who seek vote waving a note)
Vottu namma urima, onanthukkitta peruma (Vote is our right and our pride if we understand it right)/ kaasa vaangi vottu potta thenthuduma varuma? (Will poverty go away if we vote for money?)
Nermai inga yaaru, thedippaaru, Nermai inga yaaru, thedithedippaaru (Look for those who are honest)/u nmaiyana therthalukku roova ethukka kooru (Why do we need a note for a true election?)
Nallavanga yaaru, thedippaaru, Nallavanga yaaru, thedithedippaaru (Look for those who are good)/ unmaiyana therthalukku roova ethukka kooru (Why do we need a note for a true election?)
The video ends with placards showing the Election Commission’s slogans “My vote is not for sale” and “Let’s vote honestly” and of course its hashtag #TN100percent.
