Union Minister of State Pon. Radhakrishnan called on Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the latter’s residence on Greenways Road here on Tuesday.

The meeting assumes significance as the Union Minister of State’s meeting with the Chief Minister comes days after his claims of Tamil Nadu giving way to extremism and also ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the State later this week.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Radhakrishnan claimed his meeting with the Chief Minister also deliberated upon coordination between State and Centre in implementing various schemes.

When asked whether Mr. Modi was to take part in the launch of Amma two-wheeler scheme on February 24, Mr. Radhakrishnan said he didn’t have the complete itinerary of the Prime Minister’s visit to the State.

To a query on his reported comments on law and order situation in the State and a response from Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, Mr. Radhakrishnan clarified that he never made comments about the law and order situation but only about extremism in the State.
