PMK does not rule out alliance with AIADMK

While declining to rule out going back into the AIADMK fold, Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S.Ramadoss said here on Tuesday that in politics, anything was possible. “There are no permanent friends or enemies in politics,” he added.

The PMK had left the AIADMK-led alliance after the drubbing it received in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. It has since been making overtures to the DMK. But the DMK has been lukewarm so far.

Asked if it was his aim to establish a Congress-led coalition in the State, Dr.Ramadoss told presspersons here that this was the wish expressed by senior Congress leaders.

The top leadership of the PMK noted with concern the repeated attempts to frame Vanniyar Sangam leader and former MLA Guru in one case or the other.

It condemned the move and demanded that the foisted cases be withdrawn.

“New cases have been registered against Guru,” Dr.Ramadoss told presspersons. The PMK had conveyed to a top intelligence official with proof that Mr.Guru's life was under threat, he added.

The PMK apex administrative committee, which met here, deliberated at length its strategy for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections.

The committee noted that the PMK general body had already authorised Dr. Ramadoss to take a decision on the alliance ahead of the 2011 Assembly elections.

Hence, it was reiterating that decision.
