Nine ITIs inaugurated in Tamil Nadu

Nine industrial training institutes including four for Scheduled Tribes (ST) were inaugurated by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday.

The four ITIs for the STs have come up in Jamunamarthur of Tiruvannamalai district; Anaikatti of Coimbatore; Kollimalai of Namakkal and Gudalur of The Nilgiris. The others have been set up in Thiruvaiyaru of Thanjavur; Bodi of Theni; Aruppukottai of Virudhunagar; Radhapuram of Tirunelveli and Veppalodai of Tuticorin, according to an official release issued on Tuesday.

The ITIs for the STs had been established at a cost of Rs. 24.5 crore and the other ITIs at Rs.26.39 crore. Each institute would have an intake of 200 students, who would be trained in five branches.
