Watch: 'Modi asked me to join hands with Edappadi'

Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has admitted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked him to merge his faction with the Edappadi K. Palaniswami and be part of the AIADMK government.

At an AIADMK party meeting in Theni on Friday, he said he went and met the Prime Minister on a courtesy call before the merger. He said that at the meeting the Prime Minister told him that he had discussed party issues with Jayalalithaa earlier. “The Prime Minister told me that under the present circumstances, the two [factions] should merge to save the party,” Mr. Panneerselvam told the cadre.
