The State-wide Mass Casual Leave Protest of Tamil Nadu government employees insisting on 20-point demands received mixed response on Thursday.

The struggle committee of multi department employees associations led by the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association (TNGEA) gave a call for this protest insisting on 20-point demands including filling of vacancies, giving up new pension scheme, starting deliberations on new Pay Commission due to be set up in 2014 etc.

While employees of certain departments like revenue, rural development etc participated in the protest overwhelmingly in some other departments the response was tepid. Since a chunk of officials and employees of different departments stayed out of their offices, the administration got partly paralysed on Thursday.

Jothi, district president of Tamil Nadu Revenue Officials Association, one of the participant organisations said that in the revenue department the MCL protest was complete.

S. Parthiban, State deputy secretary of TNGEA said that the response was good though it was not as expected by them.
