Minister visits flood-hit areas near Ooty

The Khadi Board Minister, K. Ramachandran, on Sunday visited some of the areas like Ebbanad, Thoraihatty, Marakkal and Karakkal near here which had been affected by heavy rains on Friday night.

He was accompanied by officials including the Joint Director of Horticulture, K. Dhevarajan and the Tahsildar, Sardar Mohamed Ibrahim. Later, Mr. Ramachandran said that standing crops in about 485 acres had been affected.

Pointing out that some houses also had been inundated he said that arrangements would be made to provide relief to the affected.
