MDMK founder Vaiko today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. He took up several with him issues including the killing of 20 persons from Tamil Nadu in Andhra Pradesh allegedly in police firing in April.

“The meeting lasted 20 minutes. Vaiko submitted a petition to Prime Minister regarding the killing of 20 Tamils,” a party statement here said.

He urged Modi to ensure “justice” in the matter in which 20 persons were killed by Andhra Pradesh security forces, the statement said.

Vaiko referred to the NHRC recommendation that CBI should probe the incident, which happened near Tirupati, against which the Andhra Pradesh government had secured a court stay.

Vaiko also urged Modi to withdraw the NDA government’s Land Bill, saying, “Why he should be carrying the burden of a bad Bill moved by the Congress,” and that it gave an impression that the Prime Minister was working for corporates’ interest in this matter, the statement said.

Vaiko also reiterated an earlier demand of interlinking of rivers, the release said.

The MDMK chief met Modi at his office in Parliament building.
