Ahead of the budget, the State government effected a major reshuffle of top IAS officers on Monday.
M. Saikumar has been posted as Secretary 1 to the Chief Minister. He was the CMD of TNEB and Tangedco for three years. Vikram Kapur has been posted as the new CMD, TNEB and Tangedco. He will continue to hold the post of Energy Secretary.
T.V. Somanathan, Principal Secretary, Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Department, has been posted as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes. He will have full additional charge of his current post.
Rajesh Lakhoni, the former CEO, has been posted as the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authortiy’s member-secretary. Mr. Lakhoni had served as the Chennai Corporation Commissioner before.
Atulya Misra has been posted as Revenue Secretary. IT secretary T.K. Ramachandran will replace him as the director of Anna Institute of Management. B. Chandramohan, the Revenue Secretary, will take over as the IT Secretary. Shambu Kallolikar, MD, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, has been given full additional charge of the post of Managing Director of TNHB.
K. Vivekanandan, Geology and Mining Director, has been given full additional charge as Commissioner of Technical Education. The incumbent R. Palaniswamy has been posted as registrar of Co-operative Societies.
K. Nanthakumar has been posted as Teachers’ Recruitment Board Chairman. C. Vijayarajkumar, CMDA member-secretary, has been posted as Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Department Secretary.
Ka. Balachandran has been posted as Secretary, Commercial Taxes and Registration Department. TNHB MD V. Jaya Chandra Bhanu Reddy has been posted as Deputy Secretary, Environment and Forests Department.
Elcot CMD R. Sudalaikannan has been posted as SSA State Project Director. A. Gnanasekaran has been posted as Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Director. G.S. Sameeran has been posted as Fisheries Director.
