According to sources, one of the two container trucks heading for Thiruvananthapuram from Mysore developed a technical snag while passing through Thagarakottagai near Aravakurichi on NH-7 on Tuesday night. The vehicle was stopped on the roadside.

The lorries were said to be transporting a huge amount of cash belonging to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). On receiving information, the Karur police also rushed to the spot and provided security.

Meanwhile, spare parts for the lorry was hurriedly brought from Bengaluru and the fault was set right, sources said. The lorries left for Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday afternoon.

News spread that containers with several crores of rupees were stranded near Aravakurichi, where election has been deferred by the Election Commission , and it generated a huge interest among people of Karur district.

Curious villagers rushed to the spot in large numbers to see the lorries.
