September 16, 2009 08:27 pm | Updated 08:29 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

Lawyers boycotted courts and took out a rally in the city on Wednesday demanding protection for Tamils in Sri Lanka. A group of advocates led by the Tiruchi Bar Association vice-president Ganesan took out the rally from the Combined Court Complex to the Collectorate where they staged a demonstration.

The participants sought the intervention of the United Nations to protect the Tamils of Sri Lanka. They submitted a memorandum to a senior State government official at the District Collectorate.
