A document on using Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s Gopalapuram house for a free hospital was handed over on Friday to the Chief Minister by his sons, M.K. Alagiri, M.K. Stalin and M.K. Tamilarasu.
The proposed hospital would be named after Anjugam and Muthuvelar, according to an official release.
When a health insurance scheme for the poor was inaugurated in July, Mr. Karunanidhi announced that his house would be used to run a free hospital for the poor after him and his wife. As per the 1968 settlement deed, the house was registered in the names of Mr. Karunanidhi’s sons.
To enable the house to be used as the hospital, the document regarding the transfer of ownership of the house was registered with the authorities concerned. Dayalu Ammal, the Chief Minister’s wife, was present when the document was presented to Mr. Karunanidhi, the release added.
