After her thundering peroration during the concluding leg of her campaign on Monday, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa spoke to the voters of Tamil Nadu, but through a release, on Tuesday.
She appealed to voters in Tamil Nadu, particularly the youth who are going to vote for the first time, to cast their vote for AIADMK nominees.
In a statement, Ms. Jayalalithaa said voting for AIADMK candidates would help the State in getting its due share of rights and financial allocation from the Centre.
Listing out the welfare measures initiated by her government in the State over the past three years, she said it was her government which provided free laptops to several lakhs of students.
But not one to forget her pet peeve, she also lashed out at DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, accusing him of using the party’s position in power at the Centre, for nearly 17 years, for the welfare of his family and not of the people.
“I shared all my dreams about the nation’s future, concerns and proposed schemes through 37 public meetings across the State, and at 17 places in Chennai city, beginning on March 3,” she said in the release.
“A vote in favour of either the Congress or the BJP will be wasted, as these parties have never been bothered about the rights or needs of the people of Tamil Nadu,” she said.
She exhorted the electorate to vote for the 40 AIADMK MP nominees to enable the party to have a strong position in the new Union government.
