Tamil Maanila Congress leader G.K. Vasan has said that fishermen in the State have lost confidence in the State as well as the Central governments.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, he charged that both the governments miserably failed to protect the fishermen who were under constant threat. A solution to the fishermen issue was eluding. The Central and State governments must find a way to end the crisis. Mr. Modi should give top priority to solve it, he demanded.

Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka, Mr. Vasan demanded that that the rights, facilities and opportunities enjoyed by the Sinhalese be extended to the Tamils. The Prime Minister should create an atmosphere that would make Sri Lankan President reconsider his statement on Katchatheevu. To a question on alliance, the TMC leader said it would be decided at the time of elections. “The TMC has been growing in such a way that it would sit in the first row in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 2016,” he said.
