Gang poses as police, robs man

Four persons posed as policemen on election duty and stole nine sovereigns of jewellery from a 43-year-old man in T. Nagar on Saturday afternoon.

Lakshmanan works in a jewellery shop in Purasawalkam. He came to T. Nagar to get a hallmark seal.

While he was riding through Mangesh Street, four persons intercepted him. They claimed they were policemen, who were checking vehicles as part of security arrangements for the R.K. Nagar bypoll. They took the jewels under the pretext of inspecting it and one after the other, slowly left the spot. Lakshmanan lodged a complaint with the Mambalam police.
