Gagged, Dhinakaran too makes an exit

Some DMK legislators cozy up to him

Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar MLA T.T.V. Dhinakaran staged a walkout from the Assembly on Tuesday, after the Speaker denied him a chance to speak in the House.

During an interruption to DMK legislator J. Anbazhagan’s speech, Mr. Dhinakaran rose and sought permission from the Chair to speak. However, the Speaker refused to accede to his request, saying he would be allowed to speak later.

As his persistence bore no fruit, Mr. Dhinakaran walked out of the House, merely a day after he made his debut in the Assembly.

Earlier, as he was speaking after the Opposition parties moved a special call attention motion over the transport workers’ strike, neither the CM nor other Ministers made eye contact with him. Even as the treasury benches continued to ignore him, he found favour with DMK MLAs, who offered him snacks and took him for a walk.
