Five candidates file nominations

Five candidates, including two from the Bharatiya Janata Party, filed their nomination papers on the first day of filing nominations in Kanyakumari district on Friday.

S. Sheeba Prasad (BJP) filed her nomination papers for Padmanabhapuram Assembly constituency with Returning Officer and Sub-Collector Shreya P. Singh. T.V. Pradeep filed his nomination papers as BJP dummy candidate. Both of them sought time to file affidavits on their assets and liabilities, and Form A and Form B.

In Vilavancode constituency, C. Dharmaraj, State secretary of the BJP, filed his nomination papers with Returning Officer and District Backward Class and Minorities Welfare Officer S. Shanmugaraj.

C.M. Vijaya Prasad filed his nomination papers as BJP dummy candidate.

In Colachel constituency, S.M. Anthony Muthu, district secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation filed his nomination papers with Returning Officer and District Adi Dravidar Welfare Officer Sivadoss.

No candidate turned up in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari and Vilavancode on the first day, according to a release from District Election Officer and Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan.
