False promise given to textile sector: L.Ganesan

April 11, 2011 12:29 am | Updated 12:29 am IST - ERODE:

Senior BJP Leader L.Ganesan alleged that the DMK was making a false promise to the textile industry that it would solve the pollution problem faced by the dyers within three months after it was elected to power.

The pollution issue in the textile industry was not new. The DMK government was well aware of the issue and it did not initiate any efforts to sort out the problem during its last five years of rule, Mr. Ganesan pointed out while addressing a press conference here on Sunday.

The Centre and the DMK government in the State did not bother to implement the marine discharge project proposed by the textile industry. The DMK was giving such promise in the thick of elections just to gain votes, he charged.

Mr. Ganesan also alleged that the DMK was criticising the Election Commission because it was not able to implement the 'Tirumangalam formula' in this Assembly polls.

Flays AIADMK manifesto

Criticising the election manifesto of the AIADMK, Mr. Ganesan said that the party was trying to deceive people by announcing freebies.
